You all are officially "Chan Survivors"!

I am so proud of you guys! You did it! You completed the course known as Geometry Honors!

I enjoyed waking up to you guys these last 18 weeks (well, maybe not each and everyday....) I hope you learned a thing or two about geometry, but more importantly, about life. Hopefully, you have learned things like a good attitude goes a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way. You can get more with honey than you can with vinegar; work ethic is something you can still develop and constantly improve on; ; In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity; ignorance may be cheap, but you'll pay for it for the rest of your life; Reputation is what you do when people are looking. Character is what you do when people aren't looking; Never settle for less than your best; I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand; Why not go out on a limb? That's where the fruit is; Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Speaking of friends....I hope you've made some new friends this term. You never know, some of them might even last a lifetime. Ms. Mare and I have now known each other for the last 20 years!

I wish you all nothing but the best from here on in. Take care and be safe this summer. I hope to see you guys sometime next school year.

Euler Line

On a piece of paper, draw a medium/large NONSPECIAL triangle.
Construct the incenter. Label it I. Highlight it.
Now, construct the circumcenter (yes, in the SAME triangle). Label it C. Highlight it.
Construct the orthocenter. Label it O. Highlight it.
Construct the centroid. Label it D. Highlight it.
3 out of the 4 centers will be COLLINEAR. The question is which 3 are they? The 3 collinear centers form the Euler Line.
You might have to do this construction a few times before you can clearly see the Euler Line. Don't be discouraged if you don't get it the first time. The bigger the triangle, the easier it will be to see which 3 centers are collinear. However, you don't want it to be so big that you have no room to swing your arcs either. Medium/large triangle is best.

You have entered the danger zone. Warning! Warning! Warning! (sirens blaring in the background....woop! woop! woop!) You have just arrived at your new blog site. This is the place where I will post your homework assignments, news events, and notices of upcoming tests. It is also a place where you can communicate with your fellow geometricians as you make that slow, treacherous journey through my Geometry Honors class. I LOVE this course and take great pride in teaching it. It is my hope that you will eventually develop the same passion for it that I have. If not, at least gain enough knowledge to perform at a very high standard on the SAT or ACT.

Anyhoo, use this blog as a means of communicating with your fellow classmates. For instance, if you don't know how to do problem number 11 tonight, then you can post it. Hopefully, someone will read your posting and respond with a hint or an explanation of how to arrive at the answer. Use this blog to your benefit.
